Default Squeal when cold

Anyone know what would cause this sound ONLY when it’s cold outside? It stops quickly after the disco warms up. Belt and tensioner are new.
The video may not attach right, but it’s a high pitched squeal coming from driver side of the engine. Hard to pin down exactly where.

PS pump or idler pulley.

If your battery is getting weak, that can put more load on the alternator to charge it right after starting, and that can cause the belt to slip until the battery gets pumped up. A new belt might solve that too.

Had a newer (a few months old) continental belt on my 04 that nearly drove me insane. Squealed like a son of a gun when cold, eventually becoming quiet once warmed up, couldn't believe it was the belt...so...changed tensioners/idlers...no change, changed A/C compressor...no change, changed alternator...no change...finally...bought a gates belt...and...silent as a mouse...it's been good for over a year...end of story.

I've got a similar squeal that just developed and seems to only be there while the truck is cold. After driving around for a while it goes away.

I do hear a slight squeal when I shut the truck off too.

I just replaced the belt and pulleys with genuine parts.

Any ideas before I start ripping stuff apart?

Hello,
I wrote this in another similar thread:

"Hello,
I have a Disco 2 V8 4.0L with ACE and recently I solved the annoying belt noise. In my case, the noise starts only with the engine cold and last about 10 minutes, after that the noise go off.

Trying to fix this problem I replaced everything, including the ACE pump and the noise remained the same. My last resource was measure the pulleys alignment with an aluminum bar and a blades feeler gauge, founding 1.4 mm of difference between the ACE and PAS (power assisted steering) pulley, so I added some washers as spacers in the ACE pulley trying to reduce to 0 this alignment difference, resulting in a full noise reduction.

How I got to this conclusion? After a lot of forums search, I found a common symptom, in most cases the noise comes after a PAS pump replacement with a remanufactured/repaired pump and, a couple of years ago, I disassembly my PAS pump for a seals replacement. In this opportunity I didn't have the belt noise problem, maybe because I was running with an old belt.

When you repair a PAS pump, it must be completely disassembled, including the axle, so when you reassembly the pump, in some cases the pulley could results displaced. In my case I didn't noticed it until now.

I hope this information will be useful for somebody.
Regards"

Thanks.

My squeal also speeds up when I accelerate. Was yours the same way?

I don't know if my PS pump has ever been replaced but I'll need to check out your findings.

Yes, the squeal vary with acceleration. Finally I solved it correcting the misalignment between ACE and PAS pulleys
