Default Airbag fault srs light

Have 1996 P38. Getting SRS Light flashing intermittently and AIRBAG FAULT error message on dash. Can this be fixed by resetting codes or should I be looking for something else?

Thanks.

Hi,
Here some information about the Airbag.
Airbag-SRS needs a check after 10 years. As I recently reported, Volvo have increased the recommended airbag life from 10 years (as indicated on the sticker) to 15 years. They do advise that a check of the system should be performed by a Volvo dealer after 10 years. I had the said check performed today. It consists of plugging the SRS system into the computer and check for any error messages. The cost was one hour labor ($63 minus 10% in my case in NJ). Not surprisingly, the check revealed that everything was OK. I guess that I would rather spend the money than discover a malfunction in the event of an accident.

Mine will do that if I go through a car wash with an unside wash. I think it is a sensor somewhere that gets wet and then sets off the message. It goes away right away once the water is off. I have never had it do it while driving though while it is raining or snowing.

I agree with zoobidubi, they do need to be checked every ten years or so, I just have never done it.

could be multiple things. mine is on as well and it could be a seatbelt sensor or the pre-tensioner or an airbag module...

Default You MAY BE RIGHT!

Today, error message + SRS light gone. Day before fault was pouring. I wonder? Thanks.

It is a 1996. There isn't a harness under the seat is there? I thought the seat harness started with the 1998 model.
