Default SRS Woes

Have a ongoing issue with SRS.

Brought the truck to life over 6 months ago. When I got it from the shop, they informed me the SRS light was on and that the code said it was left driver tensioner.

Lived with it until I upgraded the sound system and would put on a used but known good replacement.

While doing the Sound System, I noticed that during the time of sitting, a momma mouse got in there and ate up the wires just above the SRS module. In law enforcement they call that a clue!!!!!

I fixed each wire one by one to make sure I didn't mix up any of the non-obvious color codes. Battery was disconnected the entire time since I was upgrading the sound system. I also replace the left seat belt tensioner.

Now this is where the bad luck comes in and the what the heck is happening part.

Got the truck put together, turned on and everything was fine. The SRS light was not on. I thought, GREAT, fixed that problem as well. (that is the reason for the other post asking about if you have to have a computer to reset a SRS code). My daughter took it to school the next morning, and as luck would have it, someone smacked into it while it was parked.

Took to the body shop to have everything fixed, including putting a Terrafirma bumper on instead of replacing the stock stuff, and get a call from the body shop that the SRS indicators is on. He sent it to a local shop and they said the codes indicated that BOTH tensioners were discharged.

The body shop called LandRover and the dealership said that the codes could not be reset and that it would need two seat belt tensioners AND a new SRS computer.

Body shop installed both of those today and the code was still on. Had the codes read again and now it is giving airbag short codes.

I am having the body shop get the exact codes from each reading.

What do you guys suppose is going on? The light went off after fixing the wires and reconnecting the battery. Is it coincidence that the light came on after being smacked in the parking lot? Is it possible I didn't fix anything?

The fact that the codes seem to be moving around seems like a possible bad SRS module, but it is a brand new one from Land Rover.

I am having it towed to my independent LR specialist tomorrow. They think they may be able to track it down and if related to momma mouse, won't charge me for new wiring harnesses.

I would track this all down myself, but I am out of town and need this done. Any advice I should give my independent specialist that can hopefully save everybody some time, money and hard aches?

I will post the codes when I get them in the morning.

Ok, here are the scan results. The place that read the codes either did not note the codes, or whatever they used to read the system did not provide codes.

1st Scan
Short Circuit Fault in LH pretensioner circuit
Open Circuit Fault in RF pretensioner circuit
Short to Ground in RH pretensioner circuit
Open Circuit Fault in SRS warning lamp circuit 1
Open Circuit Fault in LH pretensioner circuit

After both retensioners are replaced and SRS module replaced
Short Circuit Fault in driver airbag circuit
Short Circuit Fault in passenger airbag circuit

In my case the SRS wiring short was in the connector itself.

It seems less likely that your problems are in the connector itself since you have multiple faults but that would explain why the new SRS module and new pretensioners didn't solve the problem.
