Hoping someone can help me with a wiring issue; hooking up a new engine in an ‘03 Disco 2 and can’t figure out where a couple of wires should go. Starter has two leads; large one that attaches via nut and stud, and smaller one with push-on connector. My large lead running to the battery had a smaller wire taped to it with electrical tape. When I unwrapped the tape, the small wire was damaged and didn’t have any kind of connector on it. Is this the lead that should have the push-on connector? And if yes, where does the wire run to?

I also have a wire with push-on connector that runs along with the wiring for the knock sensor on that side; is THAT the lead for the starter? And if so, what in the world is the damaged secondary wire for??
