Default Starter problem

Recently I have been experiencing an intermittent starter problem where every few days and after waiting for all dash lights to go out the starter refuses to engage. The first time it happened I replaced the battery as that was what it appeared to be but it has happened on a number of occasions since and it takes a number of attemps before it engages. I am concerned that one day it is not going to engage, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'll assume the battery cable ends were cleaned and tighten properly with battery change, so my next step would be...cleaning the ground cable connection at alternator bracket. Don't just look at it and assume it okay, if it looks clean and tight...remove it and hit it with a wire wheel or sand paper. If issue continues after doing this, most likely it's your starter failing.

Brian.

You can try and jump the starter. Turn on ignition and run a wire from the battery to the solenoid, and starter. If it does not crank it is definitely the starter.

If it does you have another issue.

If you end up replacing the starter, you may want to remove the front passenger wheel and inner wheel well cover, it made access much easier for me.

The starter solenoid can be replaced. Lots of videos on YouTube to show how to test and determine if the starter or the solenoid is failing.
