Default Starter solenoid: battery terminal spins

I am in the process of changing/upgrading my battery terminals and cables (amongst other projects). When I tried to remove the nut that holds the positive cable onto the starter solenoid the entire post spins... Did I damage anything inside? Are there new contact/plunger kits available, all I am finding are diesel starter kits..

4.0l Borsch V8

If the whole post is turning then yes your battery is no good but can be used now as a door stop.

My bad... If I remember you can take apart the starter solenoid and check the terminal post from the inside.
On other solenoids I've added a slim nut to the post to keep it from spinning and so there is room to tighten down the positive battery terminal with the nut.

I can't do a lot with it until I can get the positive cable off of it. That's how it looks like they're supposed to come from this picture, unless they changed it later on.

So yes there is a possibility that the post can cause a no start. I can hear the solenoid engaging and releasing but it won't fire the starter. I'm assuming something inside got out of place and won't allow the solenoid to make contact. Just waiting on usps to being me my new solenoid..
