Default starting problems

Hi everyone and especially the moderator. Here is my pblem. I've got a 1996 Discovery that refuses to start. When I turn the ignition key I can hear the starterclick/kick inbut the engine refuses to start. The battery and the spark plugs have been changed. It used to happen only a few times but now it is a permanet situation. Thanks in advance for your responses (excuse my bad english this is not my native language).

First check and make sure all your battery connections are clean and tight. Assuming your battery has a full charge then I would say you have a failing starter. The clicking noise you hear is voltage to the solenoid, so either the solenoid or the starter itself is bad. May want to pull it out and go have it tested.

Take the terminals off and clean the battery terminals. Exact same thing happened to me - and they forgot to put an inhibitor on the terminals.

Default RE: starting problems

Hi. Thanks for the answers. The problem remains. Sometimes it would start just fine at first try and then next time I need several attempts (over 3) to start theengine although I can hear a click in the starter each time. I don't think it's the starter cos it fires just fine from time to time. I disassembled the dashboardthinkin about a "spider" related problem but couln't find that black box. Instead there issome kind of acylinder wired to the ignition key (might be the security module the local Land Rover garage installed after a precedent similar starting issue).Any idea(s) ?
