Hi All,
Well, I'm new and came upon your forum by surfing the net for answers to my dilemma. I know this car might be ready for pasture, but the thought of having a huge car payment, again, is sickening. Especially considering how many bucks have been sunk into the current one. Anyhow, for quite some time now, my car has not started up right away. It took turning the key twice. I just kind of ignored it. Now, this morning, when I try to start up, it almost seems to be dragging, but it does start up PLUS a gearbox fault message. Before I head to the dealer for a "beating", does anyone have any clue to what's wrong, so I can be somewhat informed? Thank you in advance for any and all your help...

Next morning, the car started up fine. But it still takes 2 times to start up...

 

i don't know how many miles are on the rangie. I will go through the things I do. battery, plugs, wires, ignition system. starter. air filter. the transmission fault i don't know what one has to do with the other. you can go to a few parts stores to rent or have them run the diagnostic scanner on it. it may tell you what the problem is or at least point you in the right direction. Generally speaking a 10 year old rover is not ready to be set out to pasture. Check in the search section here and maybe some one has had similar problems. it is a better place to start than the dealer. hope it helps, gotta love a rover. duboff
