Default Steering Box Leaking; Repalcements?

My Steering Box Leaking is leaking (part# QAF500060).

Atlantic British wants $1,300 for a new one: https://www.roverparts.com/Parts/QAF500060

Which is a lot to spend on a part for a truck with 144K miles on it. Has anyone ever gone the route of using a rebuilt box? I found this one for $360: https://www.buyautoparts.com/buynow/82-00518_R

I've never used a rebuilt before, and my concern is to pay for the R&R labor, just to learn it might have an issue.

Thanks,
Tim

I bought one from them over a year ago(was $274 then)
The first one they sent leaked, but they sent another(and paid return shipping on the bad one), and so far, this one holds fluid, lol.

I bought a remanufactured steering shaft as well(Lucky8 has those now).
Both u-joints had play on the old shaft.
Now the steering is like new.

you can get the re-manufactured ones for about 500$. I lucked out and found a NOS in original wood crate from a New England supplier for 700$ a year ago. You could get a used box for 100$ and rebuild it yourself with 100$ in seals and clips, but of course no guarantee on the internals.......

The rebuild kit is more than $100(I went that route first).
The kit is good, assembly is not hard, but there are 3 blue plastic rings on the worm gear, and as I gently lowered the gear into the housing, it settled into place easily.
I then saw a piece of the plastic shim, as the housing had sheared off an edge of all 3.
I could not buy those 3 rings without buying another complete kit.
I have rebuilt steering boxes before, but do not see how to install the worm gear and be sure none of those 3 rings get damaged.
There is also a large, round spring clip that is a nightmare to remove and install(bottom left, in plastic bag).
The remanufactured box is worth the money.
Here's the box apart

Thanks everyone. The truck is in the shop right now getting the transfer case re-sealed (~ $2,000), so I plan to wait a bit before replacing the steering box (need to save $$). The leak isn't too bad yet, so for now I may just wrap a diaper around it

2K for the transfer case seal? Its 1000-1300 for a fully rebuilt one:

I guess with removal and install its about the same?

Wish I had known about that. Yes some of the labor is to remove and install. Maybe I can still act upon this.

@TimInNova I was quoted 3300 CDN to remove the transfer case, machine to add a metal sleeve to prevent future shaft leaks and re-install. $2000 US sounds high to me
