Default Steering box source

I have tracked down a steering issue with my '04 D2 (with 62,000 miles on it) to the steering box. Nothing else is loose in the whole linkage. It's got some play in it and a "hard" spot. Had a indy mechanic buddy put it up on his hoist and we disconnected it off the pitman arm. Turned wheels by hand...felt smooth. grabbed pitman arm and felt the "hard spot."

So I guess I'm looking for a new steering box, but wanted to check in with you guys for the best options.
Thanks!
Pete

Perhaps the box was "adjusted" when the arm wasn't centered. That can make the box bind a little bit.

I forgot to mention that we tried adjusting and tightening it, but it didn't help. Thanks for the help!
