Question Steering fluid filter...

The shop manual mentions the fluid is filtered before the pump inlet (page 698).

Is there a filter inside the reservoir ?,
and how to replace/inspect for debris ?

My pump is noisy crying. Would like to make sure there is no shavings or harmful whatever anywhere in the fluid circuit before replacing the pump.

If there is shavings, is there a way to tell if the source is the pump or the steering gearbox ?
