Or is it possible that it will only act up when its under a load ?

Take the joint apart and if you see any! signs of wear on the races toss them! They dont always grind when it is in the early stages of death, if they do grind at all they are toast!! the new replacement kits for older discos are a bit on the pricey side 200$+ go hit up the junk yard!!

Take them apart if you see any wear toss them! They dont always grind when they are in the early stages of death replacements arent too bad 200+ for older discos a bit cheaper for newer ones, or dive into the junk yard!

I am still not 100% certain that it is the CV joint but I am going to replace it just to play it safe, and I already have it apart.

BA has it for $250 + $30 for the boot, but I found the same part numbers through Miami British for $110 for a kit with the boot and joint. PArt number TDR100790.

So I have heard a little bit about how to get the joint off the axle shaft. I have heard you basically beat it until comes off but it sounds a little rough. I am familar with the "get a bigger hammer" concept, and being in aircraft maintenance, I have had to fix the results. Does anyone have a write up on it?
