Unhappy Steering pulley shifted outwards, again.

Hello.
Same headache as a few years ago (https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...d-belt-113382/)
The triangle flange on the steering pump moved like 4 mm frontwards again. There is no key nor fastener nor thread on the pump shaft. It is press fit. I think this time I will marr the shaft surface and force slide the pulley back into alignment. Has anyone found a solution ? Would 'thread lock' work ? A weld dot ?

Yes, loctite makes a formula for press fit retention. I don't remember the number but you can look it up. The other thing you can do is peen a small deformation in the end of the shaft just beyond the flange using a pointed punch to retain the flange.

Update !
Has been running fine a couple of days after aligned its pulley inwards by a couple of hammer hits. Today, the whole pump shaft shifted outwards again by itself ~12mm ! the whole pump shaft, not the triangle flange ! Shredded the edge of the belt. Now the belt is only ~12mm wide and its missing edge is wrapped around the fan. So whatever is inside the pump body, is also press fit to its shaft, not only the triangle flange is press fitted !
Made it home at 30mph for half an hour on hazard lights, pooped pants, and no power steering. Lucky with little traffic.
Ordered a new steering pump. Will see.

Well the shaft is press fit in to the front bearing, so my guess is your front bearing is wearing out so good to change it if that is the case.

The new pump arrived this morning; 3+ hours later am done. Will see how long it lasts.

Found someone else had the same problem; Time stamp 7:24 shows the grown gap behind the triangle flange and how this guy forces it back in, at
