Default Steering pump?

Hey guys I've had this problem for a while now where my wheel has been slightly off center when driving straight and then I replace the steering box thinking it was that but now finally my steering is getting looser and also tighter at the same time when I go to turn left or right now. Is this the steering pump?.

I would check the steering shaft.
It has a U-joint on each end, and the shaft itself slides up and down, shortening or lengthing itself.
Chances are it's all worn and corroded.
This is also an easy place to adjust or center the steering wheel.
You can buy a steering shaft from Lucky8.

That can definitely be included in the list of symptoms of a failing pump, so that is my guess. This exact thing happened to mine about a week before the pulley shaft of the PS pump walked out and threw my serp belt while I was driving on the highway, requiring a tow.
