Is it the steering pump or box!
PLease help i am getting discouraged with this whole steering issue. I figured fluid leaking from the steering pump gasket meant the gasket has failed and is causing major air into the system. So i changed the gasket and installed the pump also changing the inlet hose. I can't seem to get power steering back. i am turning the wheel lock to lock with the car on and bleeding the steering box but the wheel is still hard to turn. LR Seattle tells me it is the Pump even though i changed the gasket. How many of you believe (1) the problem is with the internal working of the pump unable to get up to pressure. Or (2) the problem is the box, . without the proper pressure gauges is just can't be sure. Any help would be apppreciated....
Is the fluid in the tank foamy?? If it is your sucking air from somewhere. What did you use for a gasket in the pump? If it was home made paper type, (that may be the problem) I have good luck only with gray "stiff or rigid" RTV permatex brand. It fills the gap without changing the inside clearances of the pump.
