Default Stereo question

I have recently acquired a 99 D2 with 76k on it. I ordered the stereo wiring harness adapter. From what I'm seeing, I will not be using the 3 smaller plugs from the factory radio. Is this correct?

On my 03, The 3 plugs you are referring to are mini-ISO plugs, 1 is to cd changer, 1 to rear headphone amp, behind rear seats and can't recall the last one. I did use the headphone amp plug, the DVD player I installed, has dual zone, so kids can watch movies (via headrest monitors) and utilize headphones, while I listen to tunes over speakers.

What head unit are you installing? Do you have factory amp, cdchanger, rear subs in rear hatch door?

I have the harmon kardon system. CD changer doesn't find cd's and yes subs in hatch. I'm installing an old jvc head unit, 5 yrs old or older.

Jesman, please do not mix such disparate topics in one thread. Radios are unrelated to lifts and vice versa.

This should help: 1999-2001 Land Rover Discovery with Harmon Kardon Wiring Information

And yes, the little plugs aren't used for aftermarket radios. The factory head unit is really pretty cool (for 1999 anyway) in that it it basically able to operate as two separate head units at the same time. It can send signals from one source to the speakers via controls on the wheel or dash while people using headphones in the rear seats can listen to and control signals from another source, like CD's or cassettes through the speakers and radio through the headphones, both at different volumes.

And ... you can upgrade it to stream audio from Bluetooth devices and add handsfree phone capability with an add-on device from Grom Audio that plugs into the head unit in place of the CD changer.
