Default Strange sound from ABS modulator when engine is off.

I'm still poking around my new to me '03 Disco and I've noticed a clicking sound from the driver's side fender well,at or near the ABS unit, when I shut off the engine.

It almost sounds likethe sweep of astop watch and ticks every 1/2 second or so. If I were to further describe the sound, it has a hollow, echo-ey tone to it.

Each time I've heard it, it lasted 3-4 hours then stops.

Is it a timer letting me know how long I have until I see the 3 Amigos?

Thanks.

Hi, its the ABS unit you can hear, does it on all of them. It remains "powered" for a period of time after switching of ignition, perfectly normal

I suspected it was normal but wanted to make sure.

Thanks!

I have never heard mine and I am not sure that it stays powered for sometime after being shut off, no reason for it to. I would check with a local Rover shop and get a second option.

Urban Panzer is correct . My '03 - same thing. You have to listen very carefully to hear it. You can also hear a noise from the under-hood fuse box at the same time...Took to dealer - they said normal operation, but no one can explain why. It will also do it if thetruck has been sitting awhile and you open a door.....seems that the modulator comes to life any time anything electrical happens with the truck....whether theignition is on or not..
