Default Strange transfer case problem

So today I tried to test my low range out since I just got my truck (04 disco) and it wouldn't shift out of high. Figured it hasn't been shifted out of high in years and the linkage probably needs lubed and freed up a bit. Of course me being me I pushed on it some more and no movement so I gave up. Nows when it got bad for me. I was cruising down the road at 30 or so and what it sounded like is the t case slipped out of high and into neutral and back in. That set off the transfer case warning light and chime. So I stopped and tried to jam it into high and it goes in and drives normal but the t case neutral light and chime is still going off and the key won't come out of the ignition. Just wondering if any body else ran into this. I got the key out by pulling fuse 20 and 21 but the t case for some reason still thinks it's in neutral. I'm assuming I either broke the sensor, bent the shift linkage so it won't turn the light off or just ruined the t case.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

Regards
Landon

30mph is WAY too fast to go into low.

You must be in neutral in the auto gearbox and going closer to 0 mph.

I believe he meant that he gave up on trying to shift it and later while driving down the road it slipped out on its own. Not that he was trying to shift it at 30 mph.

After a second read, I'm sure you're right. Oops.

Thanks!

Yep 30 is what I was traveling at when it decided to pop out of high range. Must not have been fully engaged because of the still linkage. But ever since it popped out the warning lamps have been on even when I'm back in high range and driving
