Default Stripped Rear Brake Line Nut - Repair/Replace Options?

I had a frozen caliper, stainless steel brake lines and a rental Nanocom. So I thought this would be a perfect time to replace the front calipers, replace the brake lines and bleed the brakes. Made it through three without a hitch but stripped the passenger rear. Is there an easy way I can replace this fitting?

yes, but you will need a double flare/compression crimp tool and new nut. I have one of these and love it (pretty much for the bench and not in the car, but you get the idea..):

There are cheaper and simpler versions.... maybe rent one? You need to know the flare angle but pretty easy to match. You can cut the tube shorter and add a short length, or maybe there is enough tube to work with....or replace the whole tube....

and then you need the right nut....

Thanks @XRAD I saw that I could probably rent one. I would prefer reusing the line as is if I can get away with it. What type/size fitting do I need? (Edit) - I'm thinking this will work and I can just rent the flare tool?

Don't know the size off hand....

just cut the nut off (raise up nut if possible and use a tube cutter) , and bring nut, tube, and an old brake line to match at the store. There are only a few common fittings so this one should not be too hard to match....

In the meantime, pick up a set of flare nut line wrenches. They are kind of a must for working on brakes. Were you using vice grips.

Yeah I have the flare nut wrenches. Unfortunately that's what rounded the nut to begin with so I had to switch to vice grips to get it off.

Got this repaired. Need to bleed the brakes one more time. Thanks for all the advice!

Using the flaring tool

Finished product. It’s ugly but no leaks.

By chance, do you recall the flare angle? For future reference.

Flare angle? Seemed like it was completely horizontal but I don’t think I got it back exactly the way I found it but no leaks so far!
