replace the fuel pump - no matter what.
If you got a fuel pump on the way - I would still replace it.

Congrats! "A" for perseverance. Sincerely, good job. I had my money on frozen lines.

I'm glad you got her running again, but in all honestly I'm going to miss all the mystery and excitement this thread brought tho the forum. Good Job! Now get back to work!

She's been running well. One slight problem. I was a little low on rad fluid, so I topped it up last night.

I was about to head out a few minutes ago, and after letting her warm up for a while I was about to leave but smelled coolant. Popping the hood I panicked a little when I saw that coolant was sputtering out of the top radiator hose right at the little drain valve that is built into it!

I quickly checked the temperature gauge and thank goodness it was normal! I shut it down to investigate. I figured that I did not tighten the little plastic screw that goes in the top rad hose.

Turns out I did tighten it up enough and maybe even too much. The little plastic screw is sheared off part way into the hose and coolant is able to steam it's way out.

Dang! So what do I do to make a temporary repair? Duct tape? I don't have much here. I don't really want to get a new tiny plastic screw sent all the way up here.

Maybe I can find a similar screw and put it in. Although it looks like it is the top of the screw head that makes the seal, and not the thread part.

Duct tape? Radiator hose repair tape?

Which brings me to my next thoughts typed out loud; I need to put my emergency land rover tool kit and supplies together for my next tour.

I have duct tape. I can maybe find a screw that fits (but I think it's the head that seals it). I can get some radiator repair tape to camp in a day or so… Any other ideas?

Pulling out the part of the screw would probably be a really good idea. Wouldn't want that falling inside the hose.

The hose is moulded to accommodate the screw, so that might make it a little harder to repair with tape.

Mine was also broken, likely due to over tightening. I replaced it with a brass plug and some Teflon tape. Not sure how different yours is from mine. I'm '03.
