STUCK IN PARK.....AGAIN!!!
I have a 2000 Discovery Series II. The car is currently stuck in park and will not go into reverse, neutral, drive, anything. It simply wont come out of park. This has happened to me once before and I paid to have it towed to Land Rover and although the bill wasn't that much....like 200 bucks i think....I was wondering if their was any way I can get it out of park without having to tow it. When I took it their last time they said it was a sloenoid valve or something???? I was wondering if anyone could help me on how i could maybe get it to where i can at least drive it? Thanks.

RE: STUCK IN PARK.....AGAIN!!!
Could this be the dreaded brake light switch problem that I've read about? The ability toshift out of park is apparently tied to the brake light switch under the brake pedal so you can't shift out of park without your foot being on the brake. I've read of some people who carry an extra brake light switch in their glove compartment just in case this happens.

RE: STUCK IN PARK.....AGAIN!!!
I had this problem in my 96 discovery and it turned out to be small retaining clip had jammed in the shifter **** (preventing the shaft from moving up and disengaging)
I searched this site and found this problem was common to someone else and moved quickly with the fix

Buy and install a new brake light switch and keep the old one. They are fairly cheap and it is a good place to start.

Sounds like the dealer didnt fix it they just diagnoised it and told you what was wrong.
Check your reciept,IF they replaced a part then that part is under warrenty if less than 12 month or 12,000 miles.
