Default Sunroof problem?

So, I bought a 2000 Disco II. Ive noticed that something is leaking in the sunroof area. I thought it was the sunroof so I put a papertowel up there to stop the leak or absorb it. Now it seems to be getting worse. It pours out of the light in my truck, the sunroof buttons, the rearview mirror, that whole area. Is there a way to fix this? Its getting so bad that when it leaks now it pours out and it sounds like someone is peeing on my center console.
If anyone can help me out let me know,
Whitney

A common problem is the drainage holes in the lower sunroof tray get clogged with dirt and leaves and whatever after some time. The only way to access the tray is to remove the headliner and disconnect the drain hoses. BE VERY CAREFULL when you remove the hoses from the fittings. The fittings are a weak plastic and break off easily so it might be better to cut the hoses first. From there you can just clean out the tray and put it all back together. Land Rover does not sell individual parts to the sunroof so if they break, you'll either have to glue thing back together or buy a new sunroof.

How do I know??? I just bought a '00 Disco with the same problem. The only difference is that the previous owner had someone "fix" it and they broke the fittings on both sunroofs. They tried fixing it with some windshield urethane but it leaked again. $875 per roof from the dealer so I order a pair from http://www.roverlandparts.com/

Another route that I thought about was replacing the plastic fittings with ones from a D1 and glueing those in instead. It's a cheaper and untried method but won't cost you and arm and leg.

Good Luck.

Yes it is a common problem and many peopl will use an air hose with low pressure and blow out both of the drain tubes with a shot of air pressure.

where are these drain holes and how do you get to them? Where do they exit? Think I'll blow mine out as a precaution.

Sorry, that is one I don't know. To me the important thing was alway where to blow them out and I never had to go past that.

The fronts seem to go down towards the a-pillars and the rearstowards the d-pillars. Blowing air up from the drain tubes might unclog the holes but they'll eventually block it up again since you'll just be moving the debris around in the lower tray. The important thing is to unclog the drains and then clean out the tray that the water collects in. There really isn't away for larger debris to be pushed back out the sunroof either. They I took mine apart, I could understand how things such as leave work themselves into the assembly.
