Default Swivel housing grease

Just noticed a clicking in the front drivers side wheel. Intermittent so far, only while going slow and turning and not all the time. I thought I heard it a few weeks ago, then I heard it again yesterday. After researching I found that AB sells STC 3435 Swivel Housing Grease...
Amazon Amazon

Obviously I am in need of this but my question is, is it too late now that I'm hearing the click or can I grease this up and Rover on? If I can use this, is $19.95 for a one shot 370ml packet a fair price or can this be obtained locally... Not many results on Amazon except the AB and a Bearmach choice.

PS. It's not the front drive shaft.

Thanks

Normally, if your CV joint is clicking or binding...grease would be late to the party.

Thanks,

Could I add the grease to get by until warmer dryer weather?

Do you guys DIY CV joints? I can see how the requirement for 350lbft of torque may not be for everyone...

Shop rates seem to be around $800 in some of the older threads.

You know that you don't have swivel housings to grease, correct?

OK Swivel Hub is what I meant. And, right, I don't know. But most of the threads on the subject led to making sure there is grease and not oil in the swivel hub. The swivel hub earlier had three openings then went to one. They swapped from oil to grease. Dicso Mike commented on this way back 10 years ago.

I could have searched all down the wrong rat hole.

The answer is I should probably hire a professional to swap the CV and not try that myself.

If there is no place to service this then I guess I didn't miss something along the way and 225k miles is probably not a bad service life for a CV joint.

Again, you're describing a Disco1/Defender/RRC. The holes you're referring to are fill, drain, and level holes, they were on the swivel housings which your D2 doesn't have. The early swivel ***** used chrome swivel ***** and took oil, the later ones are called "teflon" ***** and they take grease.

Most CV grease is different than the grease found in swivel *****. You can buy CV grease at most auto parts stores.

The largest difference in your D2 & a D1 is that you cannot see the CV joint because it's encased in the swivel pin housing. What you would see on yours is a rubber boot, the grease is supposed to stay in the rubber boot, and the CV is in the rubber boot. You can buy new boot kits with grease if you'd like, or you can buy a used axle for like $50 shipped and replace it.

FWIW, the $40 electric harbor freight impact wrench and a 32mm socket will let you remove the axle nut on the end. Buy a new nut as they're staked and shouldn't be reused.
