Default Taken my D2 To Cannibal V8

The time had finally arrived for me to take my 2002 SE7 D2 to Cannibal V8.
I had made arrangements with Steve, and decided to transport my D2 to Oklahoma City from Myrtle Beach SC.
I am fortunate to own my own vehicle Transport outfit, added an extra vehicle or two and covered my transport costs.
CannibalV8 is going to transplant a rebuilt 4.6 and attend to a few other items.
Steve has ordered an ARB front bumper and that too will be installed.
We were given the "nickel" tour by Steve of the facility, they have a huge ware house type building and plenty of Rovers being repaired.
I am scheduled to pick up the D2 on the 24th and drive her home via the scenic route.
Having viewed Cannibal V8's web site and meeting Steve on the premises I am totally confident in having my D2 restored.

I have a few pics on photo bucket but cannot seem to load them with my iPad.

I will keep you all posted and have the pics up as soon as I can.

Check in later,
Rod.

Default She is home

Well,
I collected my Discovery from Cannibal V8 this past Friday.
Even though OKC had just been through one of the most devastating tornadoes, our hearts and prayers are with those that have suffered so much loss.
Steve and his team came through, I had rented a vehicle and drove to OKC and I was worried that they would not be able to complete the project in time for me to collect on the 24 th.
Here is a detailed accounting of our experience:
I arrived at approx 11:30 am on Friday, Steve greeted us at the unusual entrance to their facility saying all is well.
I found the Discovery on the lift having her final oil change, and looking good.
Steve had installed an ARB front bumper and thrown on a set of IFP 900S lights wired into the original fog light switch, what an improvement on the cracked and tired original.

The time came to fire her up and she sounded great, no ticking - nothing, just a real nice rumbling purr. The cam makes her sound a little lumpy but Wow! Sounds really great.
While on the lift a small fluid leak was found and Steve tightened up the problem and let her cycle the fan and get to a good temp, no issues.
A lot of parts were changed out for fresh, new trim pieces, new tail light, engine mounts, drive shaft, O2's, rebuilt steering pump. The valve covers and exhaust
manifolds all media blasted, the wiring tidied up and properly secured.

Truly the engine bay looks great.

We left at approx 2:30 pm, heading to Myrtle Beach. I drove using the cruise control a lot of the time - 75 mph most of the time, getting up to the low 80's during overtaking. Quite a bit of construction in AR, and a RV on fire on the I40 had us at a stand still in relatively warm conditions.
Temps on the Ultra Gauge:
Hwy cruising: 194 - 199.4
Town ( not much) : 204 - 212
Fuel consumption : 15.4mpg on the UG. And a little better hand calc'd 15.8 mpg
When I got back to the Beach I had an O2 P0445? Code thrown, cleared and did I not come back.
Looked under the truck on Sunday, and found coolant on the driveway.
After inspection, found the lower hose from the radiator was not quite as tight as it could be, 2 minutes and all good and tight.
Driving here at the Beach temps getting a little high, I had the cooling system worked on previously and the other ( Not Cannibal V8 ) was supposed to have installed a 180 deg' , this is either not the case or could be faulty.
I have ordered a 180 (grey) soft spring from Rovers North and will install tomorrow. This should get the temps where I want them.
I have had the truck for a year and put a whopping 100 miles on her before she dropped her guts.
I now have 1546 miles on the new motor and loving this thing.
I have a few pics of the pick up in OKC and the Discovery on the lift etc, will post as soon as I can figure out how to with my iPad.

Cannibal V8 have really resurrected my Discovery and I cannot thank Steve and his crew enough for the attention to detail and a great build.
Thanks guys!

Ps : Just before getting the truck off the lift, Steve remembered that the front left wheel was difficult to remove, he and one of the guys spent at least half an hour getting the wheel loose so that if I should get a flat on that tire, I would be able to make road side repairs with out having to get a semi repair man to help change a tire.
They had to tear up one of the lugs and replaced with a perfect "used" one at no charge.

I have no affiliation to Cannibal V8 other than being a satisfied customer.

Hi Yoops,
I met Luke the other day, seems like a first class guy, totally by coincidence, I was at Blue Moon and spotted his shop as we were driving out.
While at Cannibal I saw a box of goodies in Steve's shop for your Trek.
When you get going please post up your findings.
All the best.
Rod

Gray 180 thermostat installed and the temps are great!
188* down the highway with the A/C, 188*(no A/C) + 194* - 199* in town with the A/C., completely happy with the motors performance and temps at the moment.

Sprayed the head liner with a texture paint in a can (primed first), added dynamat to the bare metal flat sections of the roof and re-installed the liner, better than expected result.

Rod.
