Tap Power from Ignition
Try Abran's guy Paul but he'll ask you the same/similar questions no doubt so have the answers ready eh

Gerry, there are many 12v ignition controlled and fused supply tappings in the engine bay but it depends on what you want to power, you need to state/know the voltage and amps to be consumed.

Whenever I tap into factory fuse boxes for power, I never actually draw power from it, I use a relay instead. Can the fuse box handle the power? Probably, depending on the fuse, but it opens up a can of worms that may cause problems later.
What I do, is put a 3 amp add-a-fuse in the factory panel (switched or constant, depending on what I want to do), wire the add-a-fuse to a busbar, and then wire the busbar to a relay that receives its power from an aux fuse box (self installed). That way the load of the unit comes from the self-installed fuse box that has adequate wiring from the battery.
