I'm very interested in this as well. Does the LR3 pump produce more pressure than the stock D2 pump? I feel I have a bit of trouble turning larger tires while off road during slow speed driving.

Not sure about the pump specs vs a D2, just something I wanted to look into and experiment with.

I did however order a replacement D2 PS pump for my friend and I was pleased to see that flimsy gasket that always leaks was replaced with a much more stout looking seal/gasket.

It was a pump off of ebay actually. I'll see if it had a brand name. It was new vs refurbished.

I wonder if this GM pump swap would work on a Disco 2:

The biggest issue on D2 pump is the integrated compressor bracket. There was an S10 pump one of the D1 guys found worked well on his D1, I tried it on the D2 but it was too wide to fit in the bracket (same bolt pattern). I was not up for the modification work necessary at that time. I actually do not hate the ZF pump that much. The gasket in the back is the weak point, followed by the fact they used a sealed bearing at the front that wears out after a couple hundred thousand miles. Both are replaceable and the pump is rebuildable. Nothing else in it wears out.

I will be interested to see how the LR3 pump works.

Is the LR3 pump more powerful? Or is the benefit it is more reliable?
