Is there a secret to getting the rear differential rotoflex bolts in their holes?
Hey all! I'm an import from the BMW world where these so-called rotoflexes were referred to as either a guibo or a flex disc... funny how different car makers refer to the same exact part so differently.
Anyway, I'm in the process of replacing mine on the disco and am very familiar with the directional arrows embossed on the rubber indicating the direction the bolts get inserted. Whoever installed the rotoflex before me installed it both offset by one bolt hole (cause of earlier-than-expected demise) and they put all six bolts going in the same direction, bolt head toward the front of the car, nut toward the rear. That last part is less of an offense than staggering the rotoflex by a hole and shall be forgiven. That being said... I can't for the life of me get the bolts to enter into their little holes going from the differential end. The angle of the diff casing is just so that they don't fit. Is there like one magic spot on the diff casing that allows bolts to be inserted?

@Brandon318 ... I didn't have problems when I replaced mine even though I have a lifted Disco if that even matters. The bolts went straight in from both sides.
Can you post a picture of your problem?

I've installed quite a few guibos myself and the little arrows not only reference the orientation of the bolt, they should be pointing at a flange. In the case of the Disco, you may find it's easier to undo the front attachment and lower the driveshaft so that it's in plane with the diff when you attempt to slide the bolts through. This will also allow you a little "slop" in the alignment if the flex disc isn't right up against the flange and you can rock the bolts around a bit. E12s were notorious for becoming impossible to install if you cut the metal band around the outside before you get the bolts in because they expanded after install but Disco flex disc (and E30 guibos) should line straight up.
