Default Those pesky coil packs

I just recently went through the nightmare of changing plugs and wires and going into the 3rd hour when the wire broke off into the coil pack so I had to remove it to pull the wire out I thought to myself, what If I relocated the coil packs.

Has anyone ever thought of it or has it been tired? What would be so difficult? I know you would need to extent the wire harness that leads to the coil packs but that isn't terribly difficult.

I mean, putting them anywhere but behind the motor to me is an option.

How much play in the harness do you have? That would be the main issue in relocating the coils.

Thought the same thing before. When you really look at the overall picture they are not a high failure item on the Disco. Pulling the Plenum to replace them does take additional time but its just the nature of the beast.

well you could always hand make your wires (just takes some simple tools like crimps) and relocate it anywhere you want. And I know it isnt a high failure item but the hassle of it is just plain insane

Don't waste your time, as already mentioned, they rarely fail and as long as you use good 8 mm silicone wires, you will only have to deal with the coil once. There are enough other issues with your truck that are more important to do, like dealing with your front drive shaft or doing a major service, to keep you busy.
