I had this exact same issue. Changed prop shaft and checked several other possibilities. Turned out to be the tranny. Got a rebuilt and all is good. Good luck.

there is a guy on craigs list in tauton has a tranny and tranfer case & conveter for $300, he's a douche but its close and removed.
I was buying parts from him months ago then sudden he wanted retail prices, looks like reality has set in, on his new prices.
I would buy it for that kind of money as a spare, but i just cant bring myself to deal with him again.
He been try to unload it all winter i bet you could get it all for $200.00

I got a used TC for a very good price and it came with a 12Kmile/12 month warranty - had it resealed, put in new front drive shaft with greasable joints, a new tire, a new belt, some other small stuff and out the door.

Jeff at J. White was awesome to deal with - I found him 100% honest and he and his skill are highly skilled mechanics. He took great care of my daughter's truck and even washed it to make sure it looked as good as possible for her....I could not recommend him more highly...thanks Jeff!
