Default Ticking sound near dashboard

I have a moderately loud ticking sound that comes from in or under the dashboard. Interesting it is only when my foot is on the gas, as soon as I let off the gas it stops completely. It happens whether the AC/heat is on or not, so I don't think it's the cabin temperature sensor fan, but I unplugged it just to be sure and nothing changed.

Any ideas?

Update, absolutely no change after BG EPR and oil change with Rotella T6 15W40.

exhaust leak? Does it change with the engine cold or hot? Fluid levels good in trans and t-case?

Doesn't change with hot/cold
Trans and t-case were just serviced within the past few months so should be full

Exhaust leak sounds plausible, I guess I should have an exhaust shop take a look.

should be easy to troubleshoot at home without shelling out some money for that. leaf blower up the tail pipe and some soapy water over all the junctions.

Is the sound a ticking or buzzing sound?

It's a click. It gets faster with acceleration and stops as soon as you take your foot off the gas. It genuinely sounds like it's coming from inside the dashboard, but that could be a red herring.
