My disco is pretty torn apart right now including some/much of the interior. The PO was a smoker (ughh...) so it's a great time for me to add this lever since everything from the HVAC to most of the interior trim is off to remove the ashes, tar, grossness that smokers cause, etc.
It's not a bad job at all. As Z posted above, the write up says it all. It is simple and straight forward. I just did it a couple weeks ago. Also, if you can, I would advise you to try and get an 04 CDL shifter with the shifter plate. Using the new plate makes it so you don't have to do any cutting and is just a little easier.

What's the point of doing anything on your truck if you can't cut something!?!?!?!?!?

I am just going to wait until I come across a junked 2004 and rip all the CDL stuff out of it and then do some forum searching as to how to hook it up.

Does anyone know why LR wouldn't just install the stupid lever in the first place?

Cost, and they thought TRACS would take care of it.

And they thought most of their owners ideas of "off roading" involve getting closer to the picnic table at the park. (and they were probably more correct than one would imagine with the original owners of these)
