One can't use 255-70-18's without a lift can you? Found a set with good tread left with an almost new spare for $150.

 

Well... that all depends you see...

 

255-55-18 is the stock. I bought a full set of Nexxen Roadians 255-60-18(GREAT tires by the way) and I never noticed them rubbing. However durring my last oil change I noticed a small hole(dime sized) worn in the center of the plastic wheel well liner. I assume they just barely rub when turned all the way left or right. I bet they would work but the holes worn in your front plastic wheel well liners are gonna be little bigger than mine, but who cares. I'd try it. I noticed a significant better ride when going to the 255-60-18. I bet the 70 would be even better. They will only be 10%(of 255 millimeters) taller than my Nexxons. The width remains stock at 255 millimeters.

 

I'm not so sure they would fit without a lift.

Going from 255/55 to 255/60 increases diameter by an inch, from 29 to 30, while 255/55 to 255/70 is a 3 inch increase to 32 inch diameter tire. That might be a little too much on original springs.

The calculator at ashcroft has presets for the land rover parts, so that you don't have to look up the standard ratios. It doesn't do tires... you just tell it the tire size.
