The pipelines that serve NC are in Texas and Louisiana and they have been disrupted by the hurricane and all delivery was cut off from many parts of SC and almost all of NC. But the governor has clearly said that our prices are way to high. Right now there are alot of fingers being pointed at the local stations for gouging and I they have been monitoring it very closly for the past few hours. Unfortunatly its to late because every station is out of gas anyways. To give you an idea of how paniced people got, there were 3 gas stations this afternoonso lined up, they had to call police in to direct traffic. This all started late last night. Im beginning to think its more and more fishy.

but my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone being hit by Ike right now, we are over here crying about our prices while you guys are getting nailed. I hope everyone got out and isnt to affected by this.... but watching the news reports makes me think katrina all over again....

Camdisco, you've got it right. It's going to take everything we've got to turn our ship around. The U.S. has more drillable oil than Saudi Arabia, but we've done a great job of keeping it off limits. We've got to drill now. Period. Yes, it will take several years to get a meaningful flow of oil if we start now, and I'm sick of hearing politicians use that as an argument for doing nothing now. If we had been drilling several years ago, we wouldn't be in this mess now. While the oil is being drilled, we need to AGRESSIVELY employ alternative energy. Also, the oil companies need to be brought to their knees with heavy fines which could be used for alternative energy research. Some of those CEO's and their staffs should go toprison for willingly crippling the U.S. economy for the purpose of making hundreds of billions of dollars in profits. I'm getting sick of the politics of both Democrats and Republicans who DON'T GET IT. Our own governer in North Carolina says gas is too high. Well, where'd you park your squad car,D1ck Tracy? No S@&%! North Carolina has one of the highest gas taxes in the U.S. AAARRRGGHHHH!

...Cam and Drummer-You guys arent being hit with a hurricane, so what is all the panic about? I dont get it. Clue me in please.
Spike, It's been in the news around here that the oil supply would be cut off to our area because of the refineries' being shut down. Those refineries are supposedly the ones that feed a pipeline to our region. Anyway, with wholesale gas prices as they are, stations are probably not keeping their tanks full, so when the panicked public all show up at once to buy gas there's not enough for everybody. The gas stations have simply run out of gas. I've heard on the grapevine that they should be getting new shipments at the first of next week, but who knows?

As for higher gas prices, I don't believe for a minute that the hurricane is anything more than a good excuse for the oil companies to twist the knife just a little more.

How is the price of gas Obama's fault?
Because his plan doesn't include significant oil drilling and building of new refineries, he also is pulled into the global warming B.S. more then Mcain (i don't support either). if Palin was running for president, i would be for her, she has more experience then Obama (shes a Governor, duh..), she has a normal American life, and knows how to get oil.

How can you increase oil production, and lower prices, when your going to tax the hell out of all the businesses, and the "Rich" (50k+ a year?). Its not his fault, yet. right now its "green peace" and other "green" organizations, congress (democratic liberal majority), they push and vote for alternatives, that are going to be useless for 25 years + . we have plenty of oil to last for up to 300 years at the rate were going. the earth has cooled over all .36 C in the past 10 years according to a NOAA study in march of this year. and we only have a control of 1-2% of co2 admited (97% is nature).

Obama is going raise income for people who make over $250k, NOT $50K, if you make under $250K then you will get a take cut.
Palin's husband works for a oil company, if I worked for an oil company and my paycheck depended on how much money they made then guess what, I'm going to make them more money anyway that I could. And because I was rich I could afford to screw the little guy.
