Default Tom woods drive shaft unboxing

Just received my new drive shaft from Tom Woods which was ordered through lucky 8.

Considering I researched around for this item and came up short I figured I’d at least get some pictures up for you all.

I have to say so far I’ve very impressed with the over all look and details. This thing feels like a medieval weapon!

Ill post install photos later.

And apparently it uses all original bolts, I ordered some new ones from Lucky8 just Incase i mess one up. They were extremely helpful.

Nice. I love it when the zerks are on the end caps instead of buried down on the cross.

Default Difficulty level 2 out of 10

This job took about 2 hours mostly because of the cramped space and having to use a vise grip and wrench for most of the job.

i soaked the bolts in break free for about two days prior to the job

i loosened all bolts with a breaker bar and wrench (go very slow when loosening) you can’t rush this you’ll strip the bolts.

make sure your car is in park and the Ebrake is set and your front tires are floating.

youll have to put the car in neutral and take the Ebrake off a couple times to turn the shaft.

it’s a very easy plug and play job.... make sure to tighten the bolts twice as tightening every bolt will slightly loosen the last.

Lifted from the axel

Tools needed

Your most important tools

You’ll need this combo for the bad angled bolts and installing the new shaft

Some bolts can be removed with your power tool but not all Remember to loosened all the bolts first.

Leave the bolts in until you finish the back end

The backend bolts will not come out and that’s okay

Remove and lay the front end down.

Take a long screw driver and using the vehicles frame for leverage pop the back end loose... very minimal force was needed

Drove about 50 highway miles on it and still no complaints.

I rate it 10/10

I guess I’ll have to keep checking on it from time to time... I’ve never heard anything bad about them... what are some of the complaints so that I can monitor them.

I would be more concerned if I was Land Rover Corporate with someone spamming enthusiast sites claiming to be a member of the Land Rover Sales UK team

Premature failure, just make sure to grease it every oil change
