Default Too many codes

Recently completed an engine swap on my 00 Disco II. Original motor had a cracked block. I did do most of the suggested work on the new, used 77,000 mile motor, head gasgets, all other gasgets, hoses, water pump, seals, transmission fluid... even got some of the parts powder coated (my buddy has a powder coating busines) by the way thanks for everyones help. Fired up the new motor and it runs well. The only problems are, it's running rich, the transmission seems to be searching for the correct gear sometimes making a clucking noise especially during acceleration in 4th gear, and the check engine light is on. My mechanic checked the codes and there are 13 codes ranging from MAF (P0102) to some evap codes (P0445 & P0448), a camshaft postion sensor code (P0340), and a bunch of O2 sensor codes and a P1884 which I haven't figure what it means yet. Again the engine seems to run well. My mechanic seems to think that some or most of these are false readings via a short in the ECU. I see used ECU for less than $100 do you think that should be my next purchase or what other suggestions are out there?

The engine was purchased in Florida and shipped to me in PA. The Codes are P1884, (P0102 MAF), (P0445, P0448 Evap system), (P0340 Crankshaft postioning sensor), (P0134, P0154, P0135, P0155, P0141, P0160, P0161, P0140 O2 sensor problems). The MAF, cats and O2 sensors, and some other parts including all control units are from the original engine. The Crankshaft postioning sensor was on the new engine. I have changed one O2 sensor. I did have the heads checked for leaks and milled before putting on the new gasgets. The car is running well and even my gas milage is improving. When you clear the codes you can start the car and run without the Service engine light coming on. But after you stop the engine and re start the light appears immediately.

How is your battery? If it's not 100% (voltage from 13.8-14.4) then you may want to start there. It can cause all sorts of issues. I wouldn't buy another ecu just yet because you have to take it to the dealer and have them re-program it.

Battery is also new, an Interstate Battery. Do you have to re program ECUs after an engine swap?

That is not needed.
The MAF is the first place to start, I would suggest British Parts of Utah as they have a good replacement at a decent price.
Replace all 4 02's as well at that Cam Shaft sensor, 340, which is not a crank sensor.
Then get the codes cleared and see if anything else comes back.

Thanks Mike, I knew that the 340 code was a cam shaft code just a mental to typing mistake. Also could I just use the cam shaft sensor off of the old motor?

Sure would want to see, it should work and it will save you some $300 if it does.
