I raided the bank and ordered 4 oxygen sensors from A.B. = $519.80 it is worth it the Disco will thank me. I hopr the last 10 years so I can save up for some more.

 

I would like to know if you notice any improvements in performance and mpg. I'm not sure if I want o2 sensors or sway bar disconnects and stainless steel brake lines next.

 

I should have the oxygen sensors in a couple of days Atliantic British ships quick. I am sure my mpg will go up. Bad O2 sensers can cause your Disco to run rich. If I were you I would take the leap into the bank and get new O2 sensors and then move on to the cool stuff.

 

Makes you wonder when the O2 sensors for an older model (the Disco I) cost almost twice what the ones for the newer Discos do. Go figure.

 

Thats why I havent repalced mine yet, Im not getting any codes but man they are so damned expensive and the cheaper alternatives out there makes you wonder if they are any good or not.

 

Everyone ...sorry "everyone" complains about the Bosch universals that will go into the older Porsches. The "conventional wisdom" says they don't work.

They are $35, compared to $135. I'm a cheapskate, and am willing to risk $35 to try. So I did. And the work just fine for me.

And then I looked into it and started to see the difference between why my install worked, and others did not.

It starts with people who think their O2 sensor was the real problem, but actually wasn't. Then you get to the people who think they will "do a better job" than the instructions tell you to do by soldering the bare leads to their existing plug instead of using the connectors that are supplied. Or twisting them together, sometimes with wire nuts. Turns out, the wires are steel, not copper, and using what they gave you in the package and following their instructions (surprise!) actually works, and when you try to outsmart Bosch, it doesn't.

 

When I repalced one of the O2's on my wifes Volvo I bought one without the plug, it came with the wire crimps and I followed the instructions exactly...works great.
This was $90 compared to $200 and I was able to cut the old wire harness longer to give me extra room to install it and then just zip tied the extra wire out of the way.
