Default Torn ABS Cable

Tore my front passenger ABS cable. Can you splice these back together with decent results or should I just bite the bullet and buy one? If buy, anyone have a suggestion in on where to get one?

I have successfully spliced them. Never hurts to have a spare.

Found this for $20. I’ll do a splice and keep this one as a spare.

I’m sure there are several that will work. Bought this recently off of eBay but looks like you need front. ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear fits 99-04 Land Rover Discovery OEM# SSW-500030

I was doing some cleanup under the glove compartment. There was a loop with about 6 feet of cable and i thought it was for something that was removed. Oops.

I've spliced them before, with mixed results. The sensor is measured in ohms, resistance, so any poorly done connection will add to the resistance of wire. Just be sure to use a quality, weather tight, connection...and if you start seeing ABS issues...just swap it out.

@The Deputy Repaired the cable with low heat soldering connections. I thought a did a good job but apparently not good enough. Brake, hill descent and TC warning lights went off but ABS is still on. Is there a reset procedure or do I just need to swap it out?

Looks like I got lucky. Light went out after driving it less than a block!

The ABS light goes out only after the truck first gets up to a specified speed that allows the SLABS to "see" that it's getting signals from all four wheel-speed sensors.

You weren't lucky; you were good.
