Trailer Direction Indicator turns on when turning left
Hi guys,
I recently purchased a 2004 Disco 2. When I activate my left blinker, the trailer direction indicator light turns on and all the lights on my radio, AC, blink at the speed of the blinker. Both rear tail lights activate as if I put my hazards on. When my lights are on and I activate my left blinker, everything works fine. right blinker is no problem.
There is no trailer hitch on my car, but behind my rear left bumper light it looks like there may be wiring.
Any tips?

if you have the plug, then removing it is silly easy. Everything is behind the right hand taillight. If you pull it, you will find a small box stuck to the sheetmetal with double sided foam tape. Pull it out carefully and look at the wiring. There will be two plugs on it where it connects to the wiring harness of the truck, Unplug them and push the connectors from the Disco's wiring harness together to put everything back to stock.
Agree with Art. Remove the trailer module mounted below right rear tail light. It is probably corroded inside and is back feeding to find a different ground through the tail light circuitry. Once you turn the head lights on, it has to use normal ground route...that's why it works fine with head lights on.
I wouldn’t start there at all.
Go to the parts store and get whatever the proper turn signal bulbs are. I bet $100 one or more are the wrong wattage. If you have even one that’s not the right size the computer thinks the extra power is going to a nonexistent trailer and sets off the light in the dash. If I wrong I’ll send you the money for the bulbs.
