Searched the forum and owners manual and wanted to make sure I'm correct on this.

The standard trailer hitch for the DII 2003 is a class III. Is this correct?

With a class III hitch my tongue weight it 500 pounds?

I'm trying to determine whether or not I'll be able to run this type of motorcycle hauler with my Disco

MTX Sport Motorcycle Carrier

Second set of questions is. I'm in Europe and every trailer here is the 7 pin round variety. I have the 4 pin flat harness and was wondering if there was an easy adapter (plug and play) or will I just be getting a universal harness and have to cut and splice.

From the owners manual - page attached - whole thing in the RAVE download also - yes you can, but will have to adjust some other things, and have a trailer with brakes. Electrical connections for Disco to trailers is not plain jane Chevrolet, may needs special adapter or module.

 

Thanks Savannah. So I guess my question is with the bike and the carrier I'll be close to 450 pounds on the tongue of the hitch. Will I be ok with the weight. Thanks.

 

You'ld have to reduce weight in the vehicle, so the three mother's in-law will have to go on the trailer, plus some of their luggage. If electric brakes, will need appropriate brake controller.

 

You shouldn't need to wire lights to the bike carrier, your tail lights should be high enough to be seen over the bike.

Otherwise depending on the wire harness that was used, if it is a plug-n-play type, since you are in Europe, you can buy another plug-n-play wire harness with the correct European plug and just swap it out for the one you have now and save the flat four for later.
