Default Trans temp warning light...

Alright Disco Wizards, here's a mystery for you- 2000 D2, about 180k miles. Getting the high trans temp warning light progressively more frequently. Started about 2 months ago driving in stop and go traffic, came on briefly and went off once rolling again. Happened a couple of times, I changed the trans fluid- can't stand that stuff. Still getting the high temp warning light and is happening more frequently. Also have a leak out of the front drivers side drive shaft seal (need to replace). Thoughts?

My temp light also came on sometimes, turned out to be the temp sensor near the radiator that was the problem. It was sending the wrong temp..my local garage found that by measuring something with a computer, don’t know how he did it exactly….

Temp sender on the trans cooler is suspect, also there is one on the Transfer case. It's a dummie sender so there is no temp reading in the ECM, RAVE says it turns the light on at like 350-400F. Shoot your trans pan with an IR gun or just put your hand on it, If it is just warm 130F you are good.
