Default Transfer Case Interlock Solenoid delete?

Can I just remove this solenoid? Is it a good idea? I’ve torn apart my Hi/Lo shifter and cable as I couldn’t select Low Range last time I tried. It seems to me that now that I’m this deep I should remove this solenoid as I wonder if it’s the problem.

I found an old thread about this, so I’m going for it

Deleted mine about 10 years ago - never had a reason to wish I hadn't.

Thanks TRex. I removed it. I haven’t finished putting everything back together yet.

Mine is gone. In fact it's on a cabinet to my left. Dead as a door nail.

The 03/04 setup = on the h/n/l assembly vs on the TC itself. I simply used the 04 CDL linkage, removed the interlock on the TC while I was upgrading to CDL, and just plugged the interlock in and all done.

Thanks Best. I removed the Solenoid and did not plug it back in. It seems to work fine. My shifting from Hi to Low, and CDL work better than they have since I’ve had the machine. The linkage and cables did need some lube, but nothing was seized. That may have the main problem, but now the Solenoid will never give me a problem.
Mine is an ‘01 which still had the CDL in the T-case, with a shifter and SLABS from an ‘03.
