no need to add it while running, you do however need to drive it for 1.5 hours after adding it. i believe.

Hi,Guys

Not had my 2004 S 2 Disco for long, but is leaking about a litre every two weeks from the transfer box. Is this a common problem. Where would it be leaking from? Is it a case of changing a seal/gasket??

Any wisdom would be valued

Regards

Ray

I small leak from the T-Case is not uncommon but a liter every 2 weeks seems like an awful lot.

There are many places it can leak from. The best way to narrow it down is to crawl under the truck and look to see where it's coming from. If it looks like it's just leaking down low then it might just be the lower inspection cover (big rectangle cover plate on bottom of T-Case) or if it's leaking up high and dripping down it could be front or rear output seals, or one of the many covers that are sealed with RTV. Depending on what is leaking will determine if the T-Case needs to be removed to be fixed.

A litre every 2 weeks is a lot, I'd expect a litre per year from the T.case. If you consider dropping the T.case do ALL the seals, 1x input and 2x output and whilst it's off do the transmission output seal also. In fact whilst it's off do the front and rear diff pinion seals as well as it pays divis in the long run.
