I was driving through some pretty high flood water last week and ever since when I drive my Disco it shifts hard into 1st gear, I can hear and feel it. Is it possible I have water in the fluid? The day after the water adventure it was throwing p705 code which I erased and has not come back. Any advice?

 

If your vent tube was not connected, you could have gotten some water in the tranny.
When was the last time you serviced the tranny, might want to do that or at least , with the engine running pull the fill plug and look to see what the fluid looks and smells like. Should be rea, not brown and not smell burned.

 

Better do a full transmission flush - or you may end up with a dead transmission.

 

Did you get water inside the cabin?
The trans computer is under the driverseat, if it got wet it will cause problems.

 

Lots of good info guys! Wasn't there a recall on the trans vent tube sucking water in when fording deep water once apon a time? I remember taking mine in for a campaign for this. Does anyone remember that campaign? It was in 02 i think.

 

There was a campaign that consisted of inspecting the vent lines and re-routing incorrectly installed ones. Apparently some of the vent lines weren't routed up the firewall to the correct position. I can't remember how many of the campaigns I've done (a lot) but I never came across a mis-routed one. From what I remember of the pictures(in the campaign instructions) the lines were left hanging horizontally during assembly and not moved up the firewall after the body was bolted to the frame.

 

Spike no water in cabin. I think I will just change the T fluid. Thats the most cost effective step at this point. Mike where is the vent tube located? Mike I changed the fluid and filter about 5000 miles ago anything else to do for it?
