Default Transmission Issues

The sticky isnt getting enough attention, and i need a answer today....

The transmission is whizzing in 1st and 2nd. (like a metal grind) it still shifts fine. M&S lights have came on 3 times in the past couple months, and tranny went into limp mode one time.

Since i haven't been driving it to much lately (we play musical cars), i somewhat forgot about it.

Is it to late?

it was changed at 86k, now 104k, flush or change?

filter was changed then to, i plan on getting another filter anyways.

Also, front drive shaft, is it really necessary? Ours has been greased every year since bought, dealer says it looks fine, and they havent had one with a broken shaft.

Finally - The oil pump, ALWAYS WORRIED ABOUT IT! how hard is it to install a oil pressure gauge, is there a write up on it?

If the front drive shaft was NOT rebuilt with greasable u-joints, then yes it is necessary (though the dealer may say they haven't had one with a broken shaft, I assure you it happens and is documented many times on the forum; it is a $250 or less fix vs. new transmission).

Check this thread for install on oil pressure guage: https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...Pressure+Gauge

As far as the transmission whizzing, I'll let Spike and Mike chime in for that answer. Grinding gears does not sound good though IMO. I would do a flush and filter.

It is either just about gone or you are hearing your front drive shaft failing. How many grease fittings on the front shaft, has it ever been rebuilt or replaced, how often do you lube the fittings?

You need to crawl under the truck and look for grease fittings on the front drive shaft.
Where it attaches to the transfer case you will need to find at least 2.
