DiscoMike called yesterday and after hearing it he said my transfer case is bust.. the gears probably..
He said this as soon as I told him it was in "park" when the truck makes the noise
My question is, and I didn't want to call him back to bother him, but why would the Transfer Case make any noise at all if the transmission is in park?? Shouldnt everything in the TCase be stationary at that point??
And in park, the truck can't be moved, it does not roll freely..
But I still get no response or change in around when shifting through all positions

Transfer case has gears in it.
When you put the transmission into park - all motion in the transfer case should stop.
Unless your parking pawl is broken and grinding around.

You never did put the transfer case into "N" and tell us what happened.

Default I put it in Neutral

I did put it in neutral and had the same results.. I put it in all positions like Low, High, Locked Low and Locked high and N and still the same noise and no movement..

My question is, if it is in park, and the truck doesn't move cuase its in park, how can the transfer case be grinding since nothing should be moving inside the transmission which moves everything inside the transfer case???

Have you drained the tranny yet? If so what color is the fluid, any metal in it? The only reason I ask is it is rare to have a automatic grind unless you had a major internal failure.

looks like there is a parking pawl in the transmission.

When that goes into park, all motion should stop.

When the grinding is happening, put your hand on the transfer case shifter..
Can you feel the grinding up thru the shifter?

I dough its the parking pawl because the trans holds in park, usually if a parking pawl sheers it will not hold in park.

Good point about the pawl.
and I would think that
if the transfer case were bad - it would not hold in park either as
the transmission connects to the diffs via the transfer case.

If you put the transfer case into "N" then park will not work at all either - or it should not!

Yes, then I agree on the flex plate or the torque convertor.
And Mike saying look at fluid.

If the torque converter has come apart inside then the fluid will be full of metal flakes.

Good plan of action might be:

Drain some fluid and take a look at it.

Pull the inspection port from the bottom of the transmission and look at
the flex plate.

New news! I made another video yesterday..
I have not drained because I have not found person to tow it..
I am having it towed tonight And will drain all fluids..
But watch the video below, the lights on the shifter will not go passed "D" and starts flashing when it gets to D.. I also shifted the Transfer Case into N and same noise no change..
