have you noticed any MPG gains with the front shaft out?

You will utlimatly destroy your rear diff if you run it this way to long. Any MPG gains will be used up in repairs.

you wont ruin the rear diff at all. you will however destroy the entire basis of havin a landrover, 2wheel drive, dont do it. you might get 1mpg gain out of it, but is that really worth changing your disco into a explorer?

Now I was told that running on the rear diff only would put extra strain on it and it would grenade at some point.

itsa pretty beefy diff. it can easily handle all 230 ft. lbs that engine can put out, physicly, it will be fine.

Except for the 2 very weak spider gears that will fail for any excuse.
