Default Transmission question

I went to check the fluid in the transmission today because I’m thinking about changing it. I did research online to see the proper procedure and what to expect. I crawl under there, twist off the fill plug and fluid shot out of there. It had the same flow as when I pull the oil drain plug. Does this mean the transmission was over filled?

Was it hot or cold? Mine shot out too when I opened it while it was hot.

If your engine is not running that will happen, the engine must be running.

Cvhyat, it was slightly warm. It had been sitting for a couple hours.

Richard, that is good to know. I read a couple places that it needed to be in neutral. Is this true, or Amit be in park?
