Default Transmission Selector Rod Replacement Help

Update: Selector Rod Selector Shaft. I found the specific steps on page 44-25 of the Workshop Manual (VDR 100090 ENG (6)).

Please see photos below.

The threaded end of the shaft broke and was tack welded to enable temporary shifting. Does anything have experience changing? I was able to find a replacement rod from a salvage supplier.

Once the valve body is removed, are there any suggestions? I'm taking video of everything, but I can't find video of this job precisely. Can anyone help? Thanks

The only way to replace I believe is to remove the transmission so the rod can be slid in from the side. I have heard of people drilling a hole on the driver side floor to do it without removing the transmission. If you search this forum you might find the post.

Thanks. I did see that post. I thought it was about only dropping the valve body, not the entire transmission. You're saying the entire transmission assembly correct? I could drill through the floor, that's not an issue. Was hoping there was another way.

STOP!

In the last year or two a forum member posted a method to remove and replace the selector shaft without dropping the trans by cutting a hole through the trans tunnel.

You can look for the thread. I will look for it too and post the link if/when I find it.

Thanks. I'm going to try the method described in the post on Land Rovers Only.
