Transmission write up?
What do you know about the torque converter. Like Spike said, these trans' are bullet proof. It sounds like a bad torque converter. Try to score a spare/used TC and replace your current one to see if you get reverse.
I did purchase a used tranny with 99k on it. The truck sat for a week and when I backed out the driveway there was no hesitation, seemed the slipping stopped and went right into reverse /drive until it was driven for about 10 min. then the slipping started up again. Will do a filter change and Hope I maybe a lucky one.

First off starting the engine and then dropping it into any gear straight away and there will be hesitation from the transmission as there is no fluid pressure yet, this is perfectly normal.
Second why anyone would install a used transmission without first changing the filter in it is beyond me because you have no idea when that filter was last changed if ever.

I have not installed the new transmission, and have posted in previous post that I had the filter changed @ 102k then changed the fluid @132k which the truck now has. As for the hesitation, it occurs until the vehicle reaches 1600-1900 R.P.M's in both drive and reverse. I believe this is not normal. I am going to change the filter in one last effort before swapping out the tranny.
