Tubular Doors, among other things.
Has anyone ever made tubular Doors for their Disco? Ever seen one with a set installed?
I've still got this '04 parts truck. I'd like to make some cheap tubular bumpers, cheap steel rims with used mud tires, drive train swap with Sbc, and chop out part of the top and weld in a roll cage, rip out all the inside but the two front seats and rhino line. I'd almost like to install some tubular doors, too, but I'm not sure. I'd like to see what they look like.

No brains to worry about. I'm going (hoping) to completely gut everything. No electronics whatsoever beyond lights, fuel, and ignition. Maybe a boat radio and a couple of marine speakers at some point.
Carb'd 350 Chevy, 700r4, transfer case and axles out of a 90s Silverado, keep the LR suspension other than some heavier Springs in the front. That's the dream anyway.
Low low budget build. Junk yard parts as much as possible other than for fuel, exhaust, and braking. And maybe a Summit Carb/intake kit for a set of reman Vortec heads. Shorty Headers, 3" pipe, perforated glasspacks dumped out the sides for exhaust. Universal gas tank, Summit fuel system, set up my own brake system. Maybe some coil spacers for a little lift and new Monroe shocks for cost. I'll have to weld up shock and spring mounts as well as control arm mounts for the Chevy axles to mount to the LR suspension. I'll have to re-do some steering components and rigging up the electric seats should be fun. New Universal radiator perhaps with a couple junk yard electric fans. Off road lights for headlights, trailer lights for tail lights, dash with only volt meter, oil pressure, and pre radiator coolant temp. Solid weld in engine mounts, make up my own transmission and transfer case mounts. Rip off the fender flares and trim a little if necessary for tires. Low stall torque converter out of a junk yard. Shift linkage should be fun. Maybe a transmission cooler. Steering should be fun too, probably get an electric pump for power steering and a custom length pittman arm if necessary. Steering damper is for babies. I'm not going to totally skimp, all new wheel bearings. El-cheapo roof rack over the roll bar in the rear (for spare tire... maybe).
Once I had all that done, then I'd get into the fun stuff. Get some of those brown metal boxes you find at the army Navy store, bolt them down in the rear for storage and extra seating. LED bar across the rear of the hood, wheel spacers depending on the offset if the rims, maybe some flat black paint here and there, covering the inside of the truck with bedliner, some fuzzy dice for the rear view mirror, actually paint (or bedliner) the bumpers. Just some niceties here and there. Lockers down the road a little further. I guess reverse lights would be nice at night. Pull some side mirrors off of an old truck and weld them to the tube doors. Oh yea, paint the tube doors. A cheap winch, perhaps. Replace whatever cheap tires I threw on it with a set of new 31" or 32" Muds.
Of course, if all this falls through I'll just trade the parts Disco for cash towards a 70's Ram truck which would be exponentially less fun, and I'd probably end up doing an engine/transmission swap and drivetrain/fuel system/brake system refurb on it anyway.
